Our glossary of terms explains how we classify our recipe database according to specific needs and categories. This grouping makes it quick and easy to find just the right recipe for you and your family.

Entertainment » Recipes that you would typically find on holiday tables, as part of a family celebration, tailgate party or backyard barbeque. Typically serve a lot of people.
Everyday » These are recipes that can be made quickly and use ingredients most people would have in their pantry and refrigerator. No special trips to the grocery store should be required.
Healthy » These recipes are low in fat (3g or less per serving), low in saturated fat (1g or less per serving), low in sodium (480mg or less per serving) and contain at least 10% of one key nutrient – fiber, protein, vitamins A or C, Calcium or Iron.
Pyramid Rich » These recipes contain at least one serving from 3 of the five food groups encouraged in MyPyramid.
Indulgent » These recipes are a bit more complicated and/or are higher in fat, sodium and calories.
DIETARY NEEDS
High Fiber » More than 5g Fiber per serving.
Low Calorie » Less than 350 calories per serving for entrees or main dishes and less than 150 calories for other recipes.
Low Fat » Less than 3g fat per serving.
Low Cholesterol » Less than 20mg cholesterol per serving.
Low Carbohydrate » Less than 30g carbohydrate per serving.
High Protein » Equal to or more than 10g protein per serving.
LIFESTYLE
Comfort Food » Recipes that are Comforting in nature. Items you may have grown up with that remind you of home.
Diabetic-Friendly » Recipes that are low in carbohydrates and fat and would easily fit into a diabetic meal plan.
Exotic » Recipes that have a more exotic seasoning and flavor than everyday recipes. They may remind you of some far away place .
Family Style » These recipes will feed a family of 6 or more and tend to be items children will enjoy.
Heart Healthy » These items are low in fat, saturated fat and cholesterol and low in sodium. (Less than 3g fat, 1g saturated fat, 20mg cholesterol and 480mg sodium).
Kid-friendly » These are recipes that children should enjoy and like eating. Some may also be recipes children could help prepare.
Make Ahead » The majority of the recipe can be made ahead. Some may be assembled and refrigerated and just need to be cooked, others may be ready to serve right from the refrigerator.
One Dish » These recipes only require one dish for preparation and cooking.
Quick and Easy » Recipes that take 30 minutes or less including cook and prep time.
Single Serve » Recipes for one or two people.
Vegan » These recipes do not contain meat, poultry, seafood, dairy or eggs.
Vegetarian » These recipes do not contain meat, poultry or seafood.
Warm Weather » These are recipes that you would typically prepare in the summer time or in warm weather — items that are grilled or chilled would typically be found in this category.
Weight Conscious » These recipes help support people concerned about their weight: entrees contain 350 calories or less and 15g of fat or less, other dishes contain 250 calories or less and 7g fat or less.
